چکیده
We present a map and an angular power spectrum of the anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) from the first flight of MAXIMA. MAXIMA is a balloon-borne experiment with an array of 16 bolometric photometers operated at 100 mK. MAXIMA observed a 124 deg region of the sky with 10 resolution at frequencies of 150, 240 and 410 GHz. The data were calibrated using in-flight measurements of the CMB dipole anisotropy. The 410 GHz data were used to place upper limits on atmospheric and galactic dust emission. A map of the CMB anisotropy was produced from three 150 and one 240 GHz photometer without need for foreground subtractions. Analysis of this CMB map yields a power spectrum for the CMB anisotropy over the range 36 ≤ l ≤ 785. The spectrum shows a peak with an amplitude of 78± 6 μK at l ≃ 220 and an amplitude varying between ∼ 40 μK and ∼ 50 μK for 400 . l . 785. We have calculated the fission fragment angular anisotropy for 16O + 232Th,12C + 236U , 11B + 237 Np , 14 N + 232 Th , 11B + 235U , 12C + 232Th systems with the saddle point statistical model and compared the fission fragment angular anisotropy for these systems. This comparison was done with two methods a) without neutron correction and b) with neutron correction. Also we studied normal and ...
متن کاملA Search for Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropies on Arcminute Scales with Bolocam
We have surveyed two science fields totaling one square degree with Bolocam at 2.1 mm to search for secondary CMB anisotropies caused by the SunyaevZel’dovich effect (SZE). The fields are in the Lynx and Subaru/XMM SDS1 fields. Our survey is sensitive to angular scales with an effective angular multipole of leff = 5700 with FWHMl = 2800 and has an angular resolution of 60 arcseconds FWHM. Our d...
متن کاملGaussianity of Degree-Scale Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy Observations
We present results from a first test of the Gaussianity of degree-scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy. We investigate Gaussianity of the CMB anisotropy by studying the topology of CMB anisotropy maps from the QMAP and Saskatoon experiments. We also study the QMASK map, a combination map of the QMAP and Saskatoon data. We measure the genus from noise-suppressed Wienerfiltered maps...
متن کاملImprint of gravitational waves on the cosmic microwave background.
Long-wavelength gravitational waves can induce significant temperature anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background. Distinguishing this from anisotropy induced by energy density fluctuations is critical for testing inflationary cosmology and theories of large-scale structure formation. We describe full radiative transport calculations of the two contributions and show that they differ dramati...
متن کاملThe N -point Correlation Functions of the First-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe Sky Maps
We compute the two-, threeand four-point correlation functions from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) data, and compare these to a Monte Carlo ensemble of 5000 realizations, based on the best-fit WMAP running-index spectrum of Gaussian fluctuations. The analysis is carried out in three steps, covering small (< 72), intermediate (< 5) and large scales (up to 180). On the largest sc...
